Chimney Sweeping

I am an Insurance Approved Chimney Sweep and member of the CHIMNEY SWEEP ACADEMY. You can find them at www.chimneysweepacademy.co.uk. I have both traditional rods and brushes and the rotary power sweeping system so I can decide what is best for each individual flue. I will sweep all flues from huge Inglenooks to stoves lined with 5 inch flue liners. After all the sweeping is finished certificates will be issued.

Birds Nest Removal

Please note that from March to the end of August I will not remove nests unless there is no evidence of Birds.

Once the nest is removed I will carry out a CCTV survey to make sure that the flue is safe to used and a certificate will be issued.

CCTV Surveys & Reports

I can inspect your flue and give full reports for problems like, collapsed mid feathers, collapsed liners and restrictions. These problems can be accurately pin pointed using my ultra sound equipment that can trace the problem to within about 5 inches. This saves the usual hole in the wall which usually gets bigger and bigger as you go up the flue.

Chimney Relining

Should your chimney fail, for example, the flue leaks into another flue or you see smoke escaping from the brickwork or even from under your roof tiles it will need to be relined. The structure of the chimney will be checked and then the appropriate liner will be fitted for the appliance that you are using. I use class 1 stainless steel flexible liners. Usually if you have had a stove installed correctly they will have lined the flue for the stove. The stove will always work better with the correct diameter liner.

Prefabricated Chimney Systems

I use these systems for when there are no chimneys in the building or there is not one close to where the appliance is to be installed. They are twin walled stainless steel systems. You normally see these installed on new build properties either in stainless steel or painted black.

Chimney Fans

During the time we were servicing the pubs I attended many training courses and became an approved Exodraft (they used to be called Exhausto) installer being able to replace, rewire and install their fans and control units. Do you have a fan that,s not working?. Then give me a call.

Stove Servicing

This I find is becoming more and more popular with everybody buying stoves and having them installed. After a while they all need a bit of TLC with new rope seals, grates, glass gaskets and throat plates. If you have a stove and its looking a bit sad I can always bring it back for you. See the FAQs for some tips that could help you out.

If you ever need to replace your stove I always have Stoves, fire grates and Jetmaster fire boxes in the workshop undergoing full restoration.

Thatched Properties

Most people run a mile from these, there has been a lot of nonsense said about them. If you own a thatched property and are unsure weather your chimney stack complies or are thinking of using your fire/stove either get in touch or go to the Thatch advice centre at www.thatchadvicecentre.co.uk they have all the information you will need about Chimneys and Thatch and Wood Burners, Multifuel Stoves and Open Fires – Fire Prevention Considerations For Thatch. Just make sure that it all complies and you are covered by your Insurance company. I can always survey it for you or your insurance company.
